rain forecast Karachi Lahore Sindh

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rain across major cities including Karachi, Lahore, and other regions next week as a strong westerly weather system approaches the country. According to the Met Office, the system is expected to bring significant rainfall and heavy snowfall in northern hilly areas between January 16 and January 23, potentially affecting travel conditions and daily life.

Initial impacts are likely to be felt in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with rain, wind, and snowfall, while areas in Punjab such as Lahore, Faisalabad, and Multan are expected to experience rainfall and thunderstorms. By January 20-23, coastal and inland Sindh including Karachi and Hyderabad may also receive rain.

The PMD has issued advisories warning of possible road closures and slippery conditions in mountainous regions due to heavy snow, urging commuters and residents to exercise caution during the forecast period.
