Pakistan fuel price reduction fortnight

The Government of Pakistan has reduced fuel prices for the next fortnight, lowering petrol by Rs10.28 per litre to Rs253.17 and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs8.57 per litre to Rs257.08 in a notification issued late on Wednesday. The Petroleum Division attributed the downward revision to shifts in international oil markets and recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra). Petrol, widely used in private vehicles and two-wheelers, directly affects household transport costs, while HSD price cuts can ease freight and agricultural transport expenses. The adjustments are part of routine fortnightly price reviews that account for global crude price movements and regulatory guidance. General sales tax remains zero on petroleum products, though the government continues to collect levies and duties on petrol and diesel, contributing significantly to state revenue. The new prices will remain in effect for the forthcoming 15-day period.
