Air pollution in Lahore has surged to hazardous levels, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) in several areas climbing well above 300—a mark deemed dangerous for public health.

Doctors report a sharp increase in patients suffering from respiratory distress, throat irritation, eye infections, coughs, and chest conditions as thick smog blankets the city.

Authorities attribute the crisis to a combination of vehicle emissions, industrial pollution, brick-kiln smoke and seasonal stubble burning, as cooler weather traps pollutants closer to the ground.
