The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that the auction for the two new franchises of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be held on 6 January 2026.
The move expands the league to eight teams as it enters its 11th edition, aiming to boost commercial growth, sporting excellence and fan engagement across Pakistan.
Potential bidders will be eligible only if they meet technical qualifications, and they must submit proposals by 15 December 2025 at 11:00 AM.
Six cities — Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Pakistan, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit — have been shortlisted as possible locations for the new teams.
Team names will only be finalised after the auction, despite earlier media speculation.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi shared on X that the winning franchise will be awarded US $500,000, the runner-up US $300,000 and a special award for franchise making significant development contribution will be US $200,000.
Naqvi said the step underscores the PCB’s confidence that adding new franchises will further elevate Pakistan cricket and enhance the PSL’s status globally.
