Pakistan Rangers have arrested a most-wanted terrorist during an intelligence-led operation in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area, officials said on Thursday. The suspect, identified as Dost Muhammad, a resident of Bajaur, was allegedly involved in a November 2020 attack in which the Assistant Commissioner in Nawagai, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was fired upon and government machinery set ablaze.
Rangers spokespersons said the militant had been hiding in Karachi and was planning further attacks at sensitive locations with accomplices, prompting the operation. A terrorism case was registered with the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Malakand, and the suspect has been handed over to CTD police for further legal action, as raids continue to apprehend his associates.
