A “Made in Pakistan ventilator” was officially launched at the Karachi Expo Center by federal health minister Mustafa Kamal, marking Pakistan’s first locally developed life-support device. The minister highlighted that Pakistan had long depended on imported ventilators, and this milestone advances the country’s healthcare self-reliance.
He also noted that the licensing process for medical equipment is now fully digitised, reducing delays, boosting transparency and cutting corruption. The minister emphasised that while the healthcare system still faces challenges, efforts are underway across federal and provincial levels to enhance infrastructure, including new major hospital projects.
