Four suspected extortionists were arrested by police late Tuesday night following an “encounter” near Guru Mandir in Karachi.
According to police officials, the suspects were allegedly involved in multiple cases of extortion, demanding money at gunpoint. During the operation, officers recovered two motorcycles, weapons, mobile phones and other evidence tied to their criminal activities.
One of the arrested suspects sustained a bullet injury during the shootout and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the remaining two accomplices managed to flee, and authorities have launched a search to apprehend them.
Police stated that the arrest reflects growing intensity in the crackdown against extortion networks and other street-level criminal groups across Karachi.
