Digital advertising screens in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) were shut down after they were reportedly hacked and briefly displayed inappropriate content, authorities said. The incident occurred on panels installed along Khayaban-e-Ittehad and Abdul Sattar Avenue, where explicit material was shown before officials acted to deactivate the displays.
Videos of the compromised billboards quickly circulated on social media, prompting authorities to switch off the affected screens and other digital boards on major roads, including Shahrah-e-Faisal and Karsaz Road, as a precaution. The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has launched an inquiry and is gathering technical evidence to identify those behind the breach.
