The Bulgaria government has called on Pakistan to deepen economic ties, highlighting the country as a strategic gateway into the European Union for Pakistani exporters.
In a statement, the Bulgarian envoy noted that despite existing friendly relations, bilateral trade remains modest and urged Pakistani businesses to explore investment opportunities in sectors such as agriculture, textiles, information technology and manufacturing.
Bulgaria, a member of the EU, believes it can serve as a launchpad for Pakistani goods into the wider European market, pointing to benefits such as EU preferential access and relatively low operating costs.
The Pakistani business community welcomed the call, saying that enhanced cooperation with Bulgaria could help diversify export destinations, bring in new technology and create joint-venture opportunities. They stressed that what’s needed now is concrete steps — trade delegations, simplified market access and investment-friendly policies — to convert potential into tangible growth.
