Bilawal Bhutto Zardari inaugurated the 35th National Games today at the National Stadium, Karachi, marking the start of Pakistan’s largest multi-sport event in over a decade.
More than 11,000 athletes — male and female — from across all provinces and regions, including Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, joined the opening ceremony. Diverse teams also include national institutions such as Army, Navy, Air Force, WAPDA, Railways, Police, and the Higher Education Commission.
The event is being held after a long interval in Karachi — a move hailed by provincial leaders as a proud moment for Sindh. Provincial leadership said the Games reflect national unity and promise to boost sports development.
The 35th National Games will run until December 13, featuring a wide array of sports across multiple venues citywide.
