A bench of the Sindh High Court (SHC) reprimanded officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) for failing to supply piped water to residents of Orangi Town, saying the board must fulfil earlier assurances to provide regular water through official lines. During the hearing, the court ordered that piped water be immediately delivered to the petitioner’s house and suspended the tanker delivery system, asserting that residents should not be dependent on tankers when official pipelines can deliver water. SHC Justice Adnan Karim Memon sharply criticised excuses about old infrastructure and load-shedding, instructing the board to repair or replace pipelines and warning that strict action will follow if the supply issues continue.
