The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has strongly reacted to Aleem Khan’s demand for the creation of new provinces in Sindh, rejecting the proposal and calling it divisive and unconstitutional.
PPP leaders said that any move to alter provincial boundaries threatens national unity and undermines the spirit of the Constitution. They stressed that Sindh’s administrative and political structure reflects the will of its people and should not be challenged through unilateral political statements. Party representatives also accused Aleem Khan of raising the issue for political mileage rather than public interest.
Responding to the demand, PPP officials reiterated that constitutional amendments related to provincial reorganisation require broad political consensus and parliamentary approval, not rhetoric. They added that the party remains committed to safeguarding Sindh’s territorial integrity and addressing governance issues through development, devolution, and improved service delivery instead of creating new administrative divisions.
The reaction comes amid renewed political debate over administrative reforms and provincial restructuring in Pakistan, with Sindh’s ruling party signalling that it will firmly oppose any proposal perceived as weakening the province.
