The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has initiated a project to build a new air traffic control (ATC) tower and a modern rescue & firefighting station (RFFS) at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.
Design work for the new will be completed within six months, followed by a construction phase expected to last two years.
The project will be executed by MM Pakistan in joint venture with Spain-based firms CEMOSA and Fairbanks Architects, integrating international facilities expertise in airport planning and CNS/ATM (communication and navigation/air traffic management) systems.
After evaluating three potential sites, the PAA has finalised locations for both the new ATC tower and the fire station — aligning them with operational, safety, and future-development requirements.
Given that Jinnah International is among the busiest airports in the country, handling significant flight traffic daily, these upgrades aim to modernise its control and safety infrastructure to meet rising demand.
