Karachi street crime drop 14%

According to Javed Alam Odho — Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Karachi — street crime in Karachi has dropped by 14 percent, a reduction law-enforcement officials attribute to intensified policing and improved surveillance.

AIG Odho credited widespread use of CCTV cameras, increased patrols (especially motorcycle patrols by the district-central “Shaheen Force”), and swift operations against criminal networks for the decline.

He added that in recent crackdowns, five gangsters were killed and over 40 suspected criminals were arrested, including those allegedly involved in extortion and showroom-firing incidents.

Authorities emphasized that community policing, real-time monitoring and quick-response patrols remain central to sustaining the downward trend in crime across the city.
