Karachi has launched Pakistan’s first-ever aerial e-challan system, using drones to monitor traffic violations and issue digital fines without on-the-spot stops. The Traffic Regulation and Citation System (TRACS) now deploys drone patrols over key areas in Saddar, including Zaibunissa Street and Abdullah Haroon Road, identifying illegal parking and other offences.
Two vehicles were fined Rs 10,000 each during an initial sweep, with offenders receiving faceless e-challans directly. Motorists will benefit from a 50 percent discount if fines are paid by December 29; late payments will incur higher penalties. Traffic officials say the aerial system is part of broader efforts to modernise road enforcement and reduce congestion.
