In Karachi, authorities have launched a sweeping crackdown on illegal floors and unauthorised portions across key city districts, issuing a ban on their sale, purchase, transfer and registration.
In District East, areas under scrutiny include Gulistan‑e‑Jauhar, PIB Colony, Jamshed Road, Soldier Bazaar, PECHS, Mehmoodabad and Gulshan‑e‑Iqbal, while District South’s operation covers Lyari, Garden and the Old City area.
Real-estate agents and property dealers promoting such illegal constructions have been warned that facilitating these trades is now a criminal offence. Sub-registrars are instructed to refuse registration of any illegal floors or portions, with legal action and demolition proceedings to follow violations.
This move builds on earlier actions by the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) to eliminate unauthorised constructions and enforce building regulations city-wide.
