Jinnah International Airport in Karachi has reopened a major passenger facility that had been closed for years, significantly improving the experience for arriving travelers. The reopening of the long-closed passenger pickup lane was implemented to address persistent traffic congestion and inconvenience around the airport caused by its previous closure.
Airport authorities began removing the barriers that had blocked the pickup lane on the orders of the Director General of the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA). The restored lane is expected to ease vehicle flow and reduce lengthy queues during busy periods, streamlining the process for motorists collecting passengers.
The passenger pickup lane had been shut under a former PCAA director’s directive, a move that contributed to disorder and delays outside the airport. Its reopening today brings relief to passengers and drivers alike, as well as improving access to Karachi’s busiest airport.
Jinnah International Airport (JIAP), Pakistan’s largest airport, includes four terminals serving both domestic and international flights. The facility is named after Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founding father of Pakistan.
