Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has condemned a recent attempt to grab land in Karachi, calling it a serious violation of citizens’ rights — and held an emergency press conference to demand immediate action against those involved.

During the press briefing, JI leaders urged law-enforcement and local authorities to intervene, protect property owners, and ensure that justice is served against alleged land mafias.

The condemnation reflects increasing concern over what JI describes as a “systemic reckless land-grab culture” in Karachi — a pattern they say undermines public trust and jeopardises security of tenure for residents.

JI’s call for accountability comes amid broader criticism of city governance, with the party reiterating commitments made by its leadership earlier this month to “free Karachi from corruption and land-grabbing”.
