According to recent reports, Irfan Ali Baloch — currently a senior officer in Sindh Police — has been recommended for appointment as Inspector General of Police for Azad Kashmir Police.
Two senior Sindh Police officers were reportedly under consideration; Baloch, a BPS-20 (DIG) officer serving as DIG West Zone in Karachi, is the leading candidate for approval by the federal government.
Originating from Shikarpur, Baloch is credited for his operational experience, including previous assignments as DIG South Zone Karachi and Senior Superintendent of Police in Hyderabad — roles in which he handled significant law-and-order challenges and urban-crime suppression.
If confirmed, the posting would place Baloch in charge of policing across Azad Kashmir — a region marked by complex security and administrative demands — making it one of the most sensitive and high-responsibility appointments of his career.
