India has reportedly launched a missile strike on the Noor Khan Airbase in Rawalpindi, located near Pakistan Army’s General Headquarters in Chaklala, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between India and Pakistan. The airbase, just 10 kilometers from Islamabad, was among several military sites targeted on Friday night.
Multiple explosions were heard across Rawalpindi and Lahore, with at least two blasts occurring near the Noor Khan Airbase. Authorities quickly cordoned off the affected area as rescue teams responded.
According to Indian media outlet News18, a top intelligence source confirmed that a missile struck the Pakistani military facility at Noor Khan. Pakistan’s military later acknowledged the strikes, confirming that three air bases — Noor Khan, Murid, and Shorkot — had been hit by Indian missiles.
“India, with its naked aggression, has attacked with missiles. Noor Khan base, Murid base, and Shorkot base have been targeted,” said military spokesperson Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry during a live broadcast. “Now you just wait for our response,” he added, warning of retaliation.
The airstrikes come in the wake of India’s “Operation Sindoor,” launched on May 6, targeting what it described as “terrorist infrastructure” at nine sites in Pakistan. The Pakistani military reports at least 31 deaths due to the missile strikes and cross-border shelling along the Line of Control. Additionally, 16 people were reported killed in Indian-administered Kashmir.
With both nations trading deadly attacks and strong warnings, tensions between Pakistan and India have reached a dangerous new high, placing regional and global stability at serious risk.
