Members of the Hindu community in Khairpur held a rally to protest remarks made by Rajnath Singh, the Indian Defence Minister, which they deemed “irresponsible” and offensive to their identity and to the province of Sindh.
Protesters carried placards with slogans such as “Sindh is our motherland” and reaffirmed their loyalty to Pakistan, rejecting any suggestion that Sindh has ties to India.
The rally comes amid mounting outrage — notably from civil-society groups and political figures — over the statement, with some organisations demanding an official apology and retraction.
Community leaders warned that if Rajnath Singh does not withdraw his remarks within three days, they plan to hold further demonstrations — including a protest outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.
