The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that a rain-bearing weather system will enter the country from the west on Thursday, bringing rainfall mainly to upper parts of Punjab and surrounding highland regions. The system is expected to affect hilly areas such as Murree and the Galiyat, where light to moderate rain is more likely, while plains including Lahore and other central districts are expected to remain dry over the next 24 hours, the Met Office said.
Officials noted that severe cold and dense fog currently gripping parts of Punjab have intensified chilly conditions, with low visibility expected to persist in the coming days. Residents, particularly motorists, were advised to exercise caution due to fog-related travel hazards.
The incoming weather system is part of ongoing winter weather patterns for early 2026, and while it will bring some relief to cold temperatures in northern and elevated regions, widespread rain across central and southern plains is not expected in the immediate forecast.
