Rangers deployment in Karachi

The Sindh Cabinet has approved an extension of Pakistan Rangers deployment in Karachi for another year, effective December 9, 2025.

Under the decision — made in a cabinet meeting chaired by Sindh’s Chief Minister — Rangers will continue assisting local police under the authority of the Anti‑Terrorism Act, 1997.

The renewal reflects the government’s ongoing emphasis on counterterrorism and law-and-order enforcement in Karachi amid persistent security concerns.

Authorities indicated that the Rangers’ role will remain supportive of police efforts to curb violent crime and terrorism, leveraging their special powers under the law.
