The incident took place within the jurisdiction of Shahrah-e-Faisal Police Station. Police have launched an investigation to identify the attacker and determine the motive behind the killing.

PIA Engineer Identified as Imtiaz Ahmed

According to police, Imtiaz Ahmed was the son of Shah Deen, worked as an engineer at PIA and was the father of four children.

He sustained a gunshot wound near his ribs during the attack. His body was initially taken to a private hospital in Gulistan-e-Johar before being shifted to Jinnah Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

CCTV Footage Collected From the Crime Scene

Investigators reportedly obtained CCTV footage showing the victim crossing the road before collapsing near a parked vehicle. A motorcyclist was subsequently seen leaving the area at speed.

Police suspect the motorcyclist may have been involved in the shooting. Initial reports stated that the attacker fired four to five shots, while three bullets also struck a nearby vehicle.

Investigators recovered four empty 9mm bullet casings from the scene and collected CCTV recordings for forensic examination.

Police Examine Possible Motive Behind Killing

The motive behind Imtiaz Ahmed’s murder was not immediately established. However, police sources cited by Minute Mirror said his belongings, including his wallet and mobile phone, were still with him, suggesting that robbery was not the apparent motive.

The publication also reported that investigators were examining the possibility of a family dispute. This aspect remains under investigation and has not been established as the reason for the killing.
