Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawmakers held a press conference in Islamabad on January 24, 2026, sharply criticizing the federal government’s policy record amid a range of national crises. They described the economic situation, agricultural downturn, wheat policy failures, and the handling of International Monetary Fund (IMF) programmes as evidence of ineffectual governance.
Adviser to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Finance Muzammil Aslam asserted that the government shows little seriousness despite ongoing hardships, including recent emergencies like the Karachi fire and operations in Tirah. He also highlighted concerns about rising costs, lack of investment, and declining exports.
PTI representatives alleged that flawed policies have burdened the agricultural sector, worsened industry conditions, and discouraged foreign investment. They criticized wheat procurement and pricing mechanisms, and claimed that government actions have discouraged farmers and contributed to supply chain disruptions.
