SPSC CCE-2023 Irregularities

Karachi, October 13, 2026: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has launched an inquiry into alleged corruption and irregularities in the Sindh Public Service Commission’s (SPSC) Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2023.

NAB Karachi has issued a notice to the SPSC secretary, directing the commission to submit detailed examination and recruitment records. The investigation follows a complaint raising concerns about the transparency of the examination and selection process.

NAB Summons SPSC Officials Over CCE-2023 Results

According to reports, NAB issued the notice under Section 19 of the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, after receiving information alleging corruption and improper recruitment practices.

The anti-corruption watchdog has directed the SPSC secretary to nominate an officer of at least BPS-18 who is familiar with the relevant examination and recruitment rules.

The nominated official must appear before NAB Karachi’s Combined Investigation Team on October 20, 2026, along with the requested documents.

The inquiry will examine whether the commission followed the applicable rules during the examination, interviews and allocation of government positions.

NAB Demands Complete Examination and Recruitment Records

NAB has requested extensive documentation relating to CCE-2023 to investigate the allegations.

The required records include:

  • Examination advertisements, eligibility criteria and recruitment rules.

  • Screening test and written examination results.

  • Merit lists and calculations used to determine candidates’ rankings.

  • Quota policies and vacancy details for different government cadres.

  • Names and details of interview panel members.

  • Interview assessment sheets and video recordings.

  • Appointment letters and joining records of selected candidates.

Investigators have also requested separate records for candidates who qualified for interviews after passing the written examination.

The documents will help NAB assess whether the recruitment process was conducted according to established procedures.

SPSC CCE-2023 Results Announced in February 2026

The Sindh Public Service Commission officially announced the final results of CCE-2023 on February 2, 2026.

The examination process included written tests and interviews conducted in Hyderabad and Karachi between October 2025 and January 2026.

Candidates were assessed for appointments to various provincial government services based on their examination performance, eligibility and applicable quota rules.

NAB is now examining the records associated with those results to determine whether any irregularities occurred.

NAB Warns Against Failure to Provide Documents

The accountability bureau has warned that deliberate failure to comply with its notice could result in legal consequences.

Under Section 31 of the National Accountability Ordinance, intentional obstruction of an inquiry may lead to prosecution, with penalties that can include imprisonment.

The notice requires SPSC to provide the relevant documents and cooperate with investigators.

However, the issuance of a notice does not establish that any official or candidate committed wrongdoing. The allegations remain under investigation.

Previous SPSC Examination Controversies

The Sindh Public Service Commission has faced scrutiny over recruitment procedures in previous years.

In 2023, the Sindh government initiated an inquiry against several serving and former SPSC officials over allegations of manipulation involving the CCE-2020 examination results.

The commission has also faced criticism concerning merit, recruitment transparency and examination procedures.

The latest NAB inquiry concerns CCE-2023 specifically, and findings from earlier controversies should not be treated as proof of misconduct in the current case.

Why the NAB Investigation Matters for Candidates

The Combined Competitive Examination is an important recruitment process for candidates seeking provincial government positions in Sindh.

Any confirmed irregularities could raise concerns about fairness, merit-based selection and public confidence in government recruitment.

For candidates who spent years preparing for competitive examinations, transparency in marking, interviews and final appointments is particularly important.

A thorough investigation could help determine whether the selection process complied with the relevant rules and whether corrective measures are necessary.
