Commuters on the evening of Wednesday faced a major gridlock on M.A. Jinnah Road in Karachi after a section near Numaish Chowrangi was closed by police for security reasons.
The closure caused massive traffic jams as diverted vehicles overwhelmed alternate routes. Officials from the Karachi Traffic Police confirmed that the diversion of traffic flows, combined with peak-rush-hour volumes, contributed to the prolonged delays.
Reacting to the chaos, Murad Ali Shah, the Chief Minister of Sindh, summoned a situation report and instructed traffic authorities to restore normal flow immediately, warning of strict action against those found responsible for the disruption.
