Police in Karachi have rescued a woman who was found chained inside a flat in DHA Phase 5, authorities said, and have launched a manhunt for her former husband and his alleged accomplice. Neighbours alerted police to suspicious activity at the building on Sunday morning, prompting officers to respond swiftly.
According to preliminary investigations, the woman identified as a resident of Shireen Jinnah Colony was lured to the apartment by her ex-husband under the pretext of discussing child-related financial matters, then bound with chains in a third-floor room before her former spouse and an accomplice fled the scene.
A police team arrived shortly after the alert, entered the flat and freed the woman, who told officers that she has three children and is currently involved in ongoing divorce proceedings. A case has been registered based on her complaint, and police say they are conducting raids to arrest the two suspects.
