Lahore price control crackdown

The Lahore district administration has arrested 11 people and imposed Rs271,500 in fines during a major price-control crackdown against overcharging and violations of officially notified prices. The enforcement operation was conducted across the city during the last 24 hours. 

Over 2,000 Inspections Conducted

According to the district administration, Assistant Commissioners, Price Control Magistrates and the Punjab Enforcement and Regulatory Authority (PERA) carried out 2,130 inspections across Lahore.

Officials issued 58 challans to businesses found violating government-notified prices. 

Raiwind Records Highest Fine

Raiwind Tehsil recorded the highest penalty during the crackdown. Officials conducted 289 inspections, issued 13 challans and imposed fines totaling Rs125,000.

Fruits, Vegetables and Chicken Prices Checked

The administration also carried out targeted inspections to monitor the prices of essential food items. Assistant Commissioners conducted 67 inspections of fruit and vegetable sellers and 35 inspections related to chicken prices.

The inspections were aimed at ensuring that traders were selling commodities according to the rates officially notified by the authorities. 

Lahore DC Orders Continued Action

Lahore Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ejaz said profiteering and overcharging would not be tolerated. He directed Price Control Magistrates, Assistant Commissioners and PERA teams to remain active in the field.

Officials have also been instructed to submit daily performance reports on price-control activities. 

Strict Monitoring to Continue

The district administration said enforcement against violations of notified prices would continue. Authorities have emphasized ensuring that essential commodities remain available to citizens at officially approved rates.

The latest crackdown reflects the administration’s ongoing efforts to curb overcharging and protect consumers from violations of price regulations.
