Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced that protest sit-ins will commence across Karachi starting Friday afternoon, with demonstrations scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. on key city roads. The party’s Karachi unit Secretary Taufeequddin Siddiqui issued the statement, urging citizens to join the protests planned at major junctions and intersections to highlight growing public concerns.
The sit-in campaign responds to several issues cited by JI leadership, including traffic bottlenecks, rising road accidents, enforcement of e-challan systems, and broader civic governance shortcomings. Party activists and supporters are expected to occupy designated protest points to press for immediate government action and policy responses.
Earlier demonstrators from JI had staged a sit-in at Numaish Chowrangi, where the party’s Karachi chief articulated dissatisfaction with law enforcement and civil authorities over their handling of traffic safety, street crime, and other urban challenges. Plans for an expanded protest strategy reflect JI’s intention to sustain pressure until its demands are formally addressed.
