SSGC uncovered widespread gas theft in Karachi

SSGC (Sui Southern Gas Company Limited) made a significant breakthrough by uncovering a large-scale gas theft operation in Karachi, culminating in the recovery of stolen gas worth over Rs 156 million.

During raids in Liaquatabad, Korangi, Mehran Town, and other locations of Karachi, SSGC officials discovered a gas theft worth Rs 150.65 million.

According to a representative for SSGCL, the culprits unlawfully siphoned roughly 5.073 million cubic meters of gas directly from SSGC’s service pipes.

As part of its anti-theft operations, SSGC’s gas theft detection teams unplugged a total of 5,216 unlawful connections in the designated locations.

During the raids, the law enforcement team confiscated the equipment and materials utilized in the gas theft activities, such as pipes and other items.

The representative went on to say that the accused will face severe penalties based on the amount of gas stolen.
