KARACHI: To battle drug traffickers, the Excise and Taxation Minister of Sindh has recommended the formation of a task force throughout the province.
Provincial Minister Sharjeel Memon expressed worry over the rising prevalence of drugs, notably ice, in educational institutions, emphasizing the importance of adopting all feasible efforts to combat this trend.
Memon urged the Secretary Excise and DIG Hyderabad to take decisive action against drug traffickers, while also asking them to keep the Secretary Information Sindh aware of their activities.
Furthermore, he requested the communications secretary to release an anti-narcotics commercial within a few days.
The provincial minister emphasized the significance of conducting comprehensive investigations into apprehended drug suspects and directed the Secretary of Excise to form a task group of respected officials.
Last month, the Sindh government announced plans to launch a broad crackdown on the province’s drug problem.
Sharjeel Inam Memon, Sindh Minister for Excise, Taxation, and Narcotics Control, hosted a high-level meeting in Karachi on Tuesday to lead a drug-control initiative.
During the discussion, the provincial minister emphasized the need to confront the drug pandemic front on. He highlighted intentions to build teams of efficient cops committed to carrying out the crackdown efficiently.
“A massive crackdown targeting drugs and their traffickers will be launched imminently,” Memon stated, underlining the need to free the young population from the grips of drug dealers.
He also stated that officers who demonstrated remarkable performance will be recognized and awarded with prizes and accolades as a symbol of their dedication and commitment to the cause.
Sharjeel Memon stated that everyday efforts would be done to guarantee that narcotics are eradicated from every region of the province. Furthermore, he underlined the need of boosting young awareness alongside the crackdown on drug peddlers.
