Murree prepares for Eid surge

Murree

The Rawalpindi divisional administration and City Traffic Police have approved recreational amenities and traffic preparations for tourists to Malika Kohsar Murree and Galyat on the eve of Eidul Fitr.

Given the expected arrival of a significant number of tourists from all over the nation at the famed hill station and its surroundings, facility centers have been created at seven distinct places, and a ‘organized’ traffic plan has been designed.

These centers have been established in Satra Mile, Lower Topa, Jika Galli, Kaldna, Kashmir Chowk, Sunny Bank, and GPO Chowk, and will be fully active till the conclusion of the Eid vacation.

Aamir Khattak, Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer, chaired a meeting and stated that all efforts were made to provide the best possible support to visitors on the occasion of Eid, and that people should cooperate with the government.

He stated that under the traffic plan, no parking will be permitted near the GPO Chowk, however heavy vehicle times would stay unchanged. Motorcycle entrance would be limited beyond the designated point.

Similarly, motorists traveling to Kashmir will take the expressway. A central control room has been established at Jinnah Hall Murree, where the focal points of all relevant departments will be available around the clock to assist tourists. Official accounts will also provide weather and traffic updates in Murree.

The commissioner went on to say that the convenience of visitors and residents would be prioritized while finalizing all plans, and that the stockpile of rations and gas in Murree had risen.

Khattak’s directives to the district administration and police said that administrative personnel should be active in the field to prevent visitors from overcharging. He further directed that all required medications, lab test facilities, and top physicians be present at the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) Murree. He asked the Murree Deputy Commissioner to persuade the hotel association not to charge more than the stipulated rates to tourists.

The commissioner stated that the goal of these plans is to give all possible support to travelers on the occasion of Eid, and that people should completely cooperate with the government and organize their trips based on weather conditions and departmental advisories. He insisted that the traffic control strategy will be implemented in order to avoid a rush.

Rawalpindi CTO Taimur Khan stated that more than 200 wardens and officials have been deployed in Murree to ensure that traffic flows smoothly over the Eid holidays, and Senior Traffic Officer Munir Hashmi would oversee the traffic strategy.
