Galaxy S26 Series Gets the Update First
Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26 Ultra are the first phones receiving the stable One UI 9 update.
Android 17 is also already available on newer Samsung models including the Galaxy S26 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8.
The rollout comes around three months after Android 17 first arrived on Google Pixel devices.
New AI Features in One UI 9
One UI 9 introduces several new features designed to make Galaxy phones more useful in everyday situations.
NowNudge uses AI to offer context-based actions directly within conversations. For example, users discussing an event or restaurant can create a calendar entry or make a booking without leaving the conversation.
Samsung is also expanding NowBrief, which provides personalized summaries covering areas such as weather, appointments, sleep information and podcast recommendations. Users can customize the information shown to them.
Another feature, My Fancam, automatically keeps a selected person centered while recording video, helping reduce unwanted camera movement.
Samsung Adds New Security and Diagnostic Tools
One UI 9 also includes a new Warranty and Care section in the settings menu. Users can check warranty information for connected devices and run diagnostic checks when problems occur.
Samsung is also adding Security Brief, which provides information about potential threats involving malware, unknown-source apps and excessive app permissions.
AI-powered privacy alerts are designed to notify users when apps or other services could pose risks to their personal information. Some of the new AI features require users to sign in with a Samsung account.
More Galaxy Phones Will Receive Android 17
Samsung is expected to expand the One UI 9 rollout to additional Galaxy models in the coming weeks.
The Galaxy S25 and Galaxy Z7 series are among the next devices expected to receive the update. Samsung has confirmed a September 28 rollout for those models in Thailand, although the same date does not necessarily apply to other markets.
The Galaxy S23 series is also expected to receive One UI 9, which will reportedly be its final major Android operating-system update. The Galaxy S22 series, meanwhile, has already received its final major OS update and will continue receiving security patches.
How to Install One UI 9
Eligible Samsung Galaxy users should receive a notification when the update becomes available. The update can also be checked manually by going to:
