Daily Fuel Price Adjustments Continue

Pakistan has shifted to a daily fuel pricing mechanism under which petroleum prices can be revised in response to international market trends. The system was introduced amid volatility in global oil prices following renewed conflict involving the United States and Iran.

Under this arrangement, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is responsible for determining fuel prices based on international market movements and relevant pricing factors.

Impact on Consumers and Transport Costs

Changes in petrol prices directly affect motorists, motorcyclists, rickshaw operators and households that rely on private transport. Diesel prices are particularly important for freight vehicles, public transport, agricultural machinery and large generators.

Although the latest increases are relatively small, repeated fuel-price adjustments can influence transport and business operating costs. Any effect on fares and consumer prices will depend on how transport operators and businesses respond to the revised rates.
