Three final-year students from Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS) drowned during a picnic at Manora Island in Karachi, while three of their classmates were rescued and rushed for medical treatment.
A larger group of 150 students had organised a picnic at Hawke’s Bay Beach under university supervision, but 15 students split off to visit Manora without notifying the college administration. A sudden powerful wave swept one of the students into the sea, and while others attempted a rescue, the tragedy unfolded.
