The provincial government of Sindh has announced that the Ghotki–Kandhkot Bridge over the Indus River is scheduled to be inaugurated in June 2027.
The announcement was made by Syed Murad Ali Shah, the Chief Minister of Sindh, during the 49th meeting of the PPP Policy Board — at which updated timelines, cost escalations and security challenges related to the project were reviewed.
Construction on the bridge — a major infrastructure effort linking Ghotki and Kandhkot — had previously resumed after delays; under revised design and scope, it now spans approximately 12.15 km, including approach roads on both sides, making it among the longest river-spanning road bridges in the country.
Recent updates show substantial progress: several segments including piling, shaft-construction and transom installation are underway, with financial closure expected soon via leading commercial and Islamic banks.
Chief Minister Murad described the bridge as “a vital lifeline” that will open new economic corridors for upper Sindh and directed relevant departments to ensure continuous security and timely execution.
