The Government of Sindh has announced that it will shortly launch a fleet of double-decker and electric buses (EV buses) in Karachi, aiming to bolster urban mobility and modernize public transport infrastructure.
Transport Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon revealed that the new buses are expected to arrive next week, with the electric vehicles expanding the city’s eco-friendly transit options and double-deckers increasing capacity on busy routes.
In tandem, the government plans to roll out new EV taxi services by December and expand current bus satellite networks, indicating a broader shift toward sustainable public transport.
