The vote-counting process is now underway following by-elections held today in six National Assembly (NA) and seven Punjab Assembly (PA) constituencies.
Polling took place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in areas including Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh and Haripur.
Strict security measures were in place — out of 2,792 polling stations, 408 were classed as “highly sensitive” and 1,032 as “sensitive”, with over 20,000 personnel deployed.
The by-polls were necessitated by vacancies arising in those NA and PA seats — notably six NA constituencies like NA-18 (Haripur) and NA-104 (Faisalabad) and seven PA ones such as PP-73 (Sargodha) and PP-269 (Muzaffargarh).
