Sindhi Muslim Food Walk Karachi

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has inaugurated the Sindhi Muslim Food Walk in Karachi’s Sindhi Muslim Society, marking a new urban development initiative aimed at improving public spaces and providing better facilities for residents.

The project, developed by the Chanesar Town administration, was completed in October 2026 after construction work began on February 1. It was completed at an estimated cost of Rs250 million, according to the chief minister.

Major Improvements Under the Food Walk Project

The development includes several infrastructure and beautification measures designed to make the area more organised and accessible.

Key improvements include the removal of overhead electricity wires, renovation of roads and footpaths, plantation, landscaping and upgrades to intersections and public spaces.

The project also includes improved parking arrangements, alternative routes and better traffic management. New traffic signs and road markings have been installed to improve road safety and make movement easier for visitors.

CM Calls for Similar Projects Across Karachi

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Murad Ali Shah described the food walk as an example of how local government institutions can use their own resources to improve public facilities.

He encouraged other Town Municipal Corporations (TMCs) to introduce similar development initiatives in their respective areas.

The chief minister also highlighted Karachi’s employment and economic potential, saying stronger municipal institutions could play an important role in the city’s development.

He said the Sindhi Muslim Food Walk was developed using the town administration’s own revenue and pledged to visit the facility at least once a month.

Murad Ali Shah also referred to the Karachi Local Government’s Competitive and Livable City of Karachi (CLICK) programme, which supports improvements to municipal infrastructure across the city’s town administrations.

He further said that the Urban Immovable Property Tax had been transferred to Town Municipal Corporations to strengthen their financial resources and improve public service delivery.

The Sindhi Muslim Food Walk is intended to provide Karachi residents with a more organised public space while demonstrating how local development projects can improve the city’s urban environment.
