Three lion cubs have been born at Karachi Zoo, and officials say the newborns are in “excellent health and active.”
The cubs were born on November 16, and after a veterinary examination by the zoo’s in-house team, it was confirmed that both the cubs and their mother are healthy and being closely cared for.
Zoo management delayed public announcement for about 10 days to allow the mother and her cubs to bond and ensure their early safety — newborn cubs are born blind and require full maternal care.
The city administration, under Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), described the birth as a sign of improved habitat management, better veterinary services, and a renewed commitment to wildlife conservation at the zoo.
At present, the cubs remain off public display; the zoo expects to gradually allow public viewings once veterinary staff deem it safe for the cubs.
