A gradual easing of the cold wave is expected in Karachi this week as temperatures begin to slowly rise, offering relief from the unusually chilly weather that has gripped the city. According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), minimum temperatures are forecast to remain between 9 °C and 11 °C, while foggy conditions may continue to reduce visibility during early mornings.
On Tuesday, the city recorded a maximum temperature of 26.5 °C, marking a slight improvement compared with the previous day, while the minimum hovered near 9.5 °C. Northeastern winds originating from Balochistan had kept night-time readings low, but the Met Office expects these winds to weaken over the next 24 to 36 hours, with southwesterly sea breezes gradually moderating the chill.
The forecast suggests that the cold wave’s intensity will continue to diminish as the week progresses, although fog may still affect visibility on Thursday morning. The slight warming trend follows a period of strikingly low temperatures that saw parts of the city dip into single digits, but officials say conditions should become more moderate in the coming days.
