KARACHI: K-Electric (KE) has announced the end of temporary load management in Karachi following the resumption of re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) supplies and improved power generation at its Bin Qasim Power Station-III (BQPS-III).
According to the power utility, the restoration of fuel supplies has helped stabilise electricity generation, allowing it to withdraw the additional power-cut measures introduced during the shortage. However, the announcement does not mean that all load shedding has ended across the city.
Scheduled Load Shedding to Continue in Some Areas
K-Electric has clarified that routine scheduled load shedding will continue in areas where electricity theft is high and bill recovery is low. Residents can check the applicable schedule through the utility’s official website.
Consumers can visit the K-Electric load-shedding schedule page and use their account details to check information for their area.
RLNG Shortage Behind Additional Power Cuts
The temporary load management measures followed disruptions in the nationwide supply of RLNG, which affected electricity generation. Delays in LNG cargoes and international supply problems had put pressure on power production, prompting concerns about additional outages during evening and nighttime peak hours.
K-Electric had previously warned that it might need to introduce extra load management if the fuel shortage continued. The resumption of RLNG supplies has now helped ease that pressure.
Karachi Residents Still Facing Electricity Concerns
Although the additional load management has been withdrawn, residents may continue to experience outages according to their area’s scheduled load-shedding arrangements. Recent reports have highlighted prolonged power cuts in several parts of Karachi during the RLNG shortage, affecting households, businesses and daily activities.
K-Electric has thanked Pakistan LNG Limited and the relevant authorities for their cooperation, while also expressing appreciation to customers for their patience during the disruption.

How Consumers Can Check Their Power Schedule
Residents who continue to face outages can check their area’s schedule through K-Electric’s official website or the KE Live app. Consumers can also contact the utility through its customer helpline at 118 to obtain information about their feeder and report electricity-related complaints.
The latest announcement offers relief from the additional cuts linked to the fuel shortage, but the duration and frequency of electricity outages will still depend on the applicable schedule and local supply conditions.
