Residents of Sindh province are asking when the digital traffic-fine system will expand beyond Karachi. The new e-challan system is currently in operation only in Karachi, while other cities remain on the previous system or are issuing placeholder “dummy challans”.
During a discussion on Express News’s program Power Cast, DIG Traffic for Karachi, Syed Pir Muhammad Shah, confirmed that though his direct responsibility covers Karachi, the legal amendment for e-challans is applicable province-wide.
He indicated that the remaining cities in Sindh will soon be brought onto the system, pointing out that Karachi itself initially used dummy challans for about one to two months during the rollout.
In short, while the legal framework is ready to cover all of Sindh, the operational rollout beyond Karachi remains pending and will be implemented in the near future.
