Police in Karachi have arrested a man allegedly responsible for the assault and murder of a woman whose body was discovered near the Urban Forest area of Clifton earlier this week.
The victim, identified as Shehnaz Arshad Gill, had been missing since November 22. Forensic analysis revealed she had been sexually assaulted and tortured before being murdered.
According to police, the suspect — a resident of Akhtar Colony, who was familiar with the victim — confessed during interrogation. He stated that a money-related dispute escalated after the woman allegedly took his phone, prompting him to fatally strike her with a rock, then steal her phone and cash.
Authorities recovered the stolen phone. They said the suspect tried to disfigure the victim’s face and burned her fingers to hide her identity.
The case remains under investigation, with police pursuing leads to determine whether the suspect acted alone or had accomplices.
