LAREDO, Texas — Churches across Laredo welcomed large congregations on Christmas morning as residents and visitors gathered for holiday worship services, celebrating the birth of Christ and the spirit of the season. The San Agustin Cathedral and other local parishes opened their doors early, drawing worshippers who came to attend Christmas Mass and communal prayer amid the festive atmosphere.
Reverend Iden Bello of San Agustin Cathedral emphasised the importance of returning “to the basics” of faith during the holiday, noting that for many attendees the services provide both spiritual reflection and a chance to reunite with family and friends who have returned to Laredo for the celebrations. Bello also highlighted how the community’s religious observances help unify residents on both sides of the Rio Grande, reinforcing shared traditions and cultural ties during the festive period.
