Raids Conducted in E-11 and G-10
NCCIA teams carried out operations at three locations in Islamabad’s E-11 and G-10 sectors over the past 24 hours. Officials said the raids targeted call centres allegedly involved in various forms of online fraud.
Two of the centres were located in G-10, while another was raided in E-11. Pakistani men and women as well as Chinese nationals were among those taken into custody.
Hundreds of Devices Seized
According to the NCCIA, investigators recovered 306 mobile phones, 383 computers and CPUs, and 299 monitors and laptops during the raids.
Authorities said the seized equipment has been sent for forensic examination as investigators work to determine how the alleged network operated and identify the roles of individual suspects.
Suspects Allegedly Used Multiple Online Fraud Schemes
The agency said the suspects allegedly used several methods to deceive people online, including Google-related scams, fraudulent loan and dating schemes, fake social media accounts and misleading trading offers.
Investigators also found preliminary indications of connections with networks in India and Brazil, although officials said the investigation remains at an early stage.
Case Registered Against 212 Suspects
A case has been registered against all 212 suspects under relevant laws, including seven Chinese nationals, according to the NCCIA spokesperson.
Because of the large number of detainees, the raided premises were declared a sub-jail for further legal proceedings. Authorities said the investigation will focus on the alleged network’s operations, financial connections and the individual roles of those arrested.
