Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced a protest sit-in in Karachi to condemn the rising number of fatal dumper and tanker accidents in the city, which the party says have turned daily travel into a serious risk for residents. JI Karachi chief Munam Zafar Khan said that heavy vehicles have become a threat to public safety, with deaths caused by reckless driving showing no sign of stopping and authorities failing to protect citizens’ lives.
He also criticised the e-challan system, calling it unfairly punitive while dangerous transport practices go unchecked. The protest is planned for Numaish Chowrangi at 5:00 pm, and will highlight not only road safety concerns but also broader infrastructure problems, including severe water shortages that have empowered the tanker mafia. JI demands an immediate end to “blood-soaked tankers” and improved oversight of heavy vehicles to prevent further loss of life.
