A roadside explosion targeted a police vehicle in the Paniyala area of Dera Ismail Khan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), killing three police officers and wounding at least one other.
The deceased include Gul Alam (Assistant Sub-Inspector), Constable Rafiq, and the van’s driver, Sakhi Jan, according to police.
Initially reported as a bomb blast, authorities later described the assault as involving an improvised explosive device (IED), followed by gunfire; investigators have launched a combing operation in the area.
No group has claimed responsibility yet. However, the attack was condemned by provincial leadership, and police have vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice while tightening security patrols along vulnerable routes.
