Karachi: Nearly 600 Fatalities from Road Accidents

Karachi

Karachi: According to rescue officials, an alarming increase in road accidents has claimed 598 lives this year.

Rescue authorities said that around 6,428 people have been injured in road accidents in Karachi.

The majority of these incidents involve motorcycles, with many lives lost as a result of rushing dumpers and water tankers.

Within 24 hours, the city had three accidents involving high-speed dump trucks and trailers.

On one fatal occasion, a container from the trailer collapsed onto a motorbike on Sher Shah Bridge, killing him.
In addition, a truck hit two kids in Memon Goth, and a high-speed trailer crashed into multiple vehicles on Karachi’s Site Super Highway.

The escalating toll necessitates immediate attention to improving traffic laws and safety measures to prevent more fatalities on the city’s roadways.

DIG of Karachi police Ahmed Nawaz Cheema spoke to a private news channel about the recent accidents and explained that they occurred in areas of Karachi where heavy traffic flows 24 hours a day, such as industrial zones, Karachi port, and the Northern bypass

“Other areas, including Shahrae Faisal, Defence, Clifton, and nearby routes, report no such accidents,” she said.
